vocabulary 23


  1. analogy 类似 (noun): a comparison (Works of art were seen as an analogy for works of nature.)
  2. annihilate 消灭 (verb): to wipe out  (We annihilated the enemy.)
  3. criterion (noun): a standard (Only social practice can be the criterion of truth.)
  4. emanate 发出 (verb): to come out (Do you know where these rumors 谣言 emanated from?)
  5. holistic 全部的 (adj): concerned with the whole (Eastern cultures tend to take a more holistic view of learning than Western societies, focusing on the whole rather than analyzing parts.)
  6. placebo 安慰剂 (noun):a fake medicine (The doctor lost his license when it was that the pills for depression he had been giving to many of his patients were actually a placebo - just sugar pills.)
