vocabulary 22


  1. assimilate 吸收 (verb): to be absorbed (They did not assimilate with the local population.)
  2. belligerent交战的 (adj); quarrelsome (He had a belligerent aspect.)
  3. demeanor (noun): behavior (His good demeanor spoke well for him when he went to apply for the job.)
  4. denunciation 告发 (noun): criticism (We were amazed to hear the witness's  denunciation of the accused被告.)
  5. dissipate 驱散 (verb): to scatter分散.(The wind quickly dissipated the clouds.)
  6. indolent 懒惰的 (adj): unwilling to work (My uncle has been fired from three jobs for being indolent. He shows up on time, but he does very little work and leaves early.)
  7. inherent (adj): natural (He has an inherent love of beauty.)
  8. nonchalant漠不关心的 (adj): relaxed (She gave a nonchalant shrug耸肩.)
  9. unassuming 谦虚的 (adj): humble (He was an unassuming and kindly man)
  10. unilateral (adj): one-sided (Tanya's unilateral decisions are hurting marriage. For instance, she recently bought nonrefundable tickets to Florida without consuming her husband.)
